Meet the panelists

Ngu Ung Chai
Managing Director, S Frame Buildtech Sdn. Bhd.
Bachelor of Engineering (Civil & Construction Engineering), Class of 2011
Ung Chai started his career with S Frame Buildtech as an engineer in December 2011 and worked his way up to the top management in 10 years. The company specialises in Light Gauge Cold Formed Steel Framing (LGSF) systems, also known as S Frame systems. S Frame Buildtech is both the pioneer and purveyor of LGSF construction for residential and commercial buildings in Malaysia. Under Ung Chai’s leadership, S Frame Buildtech ventured into the construction and trading industry, with a focus on government and local authority projects, and the trading of green and innovative building materials. He aims to make S Frame Buildtech a one-stop building solutions provider where feasibility study, design, planning, building materials supply and construction needs are seamlessly met.
Ling Teck Ping
Civil Engineer, Sepakat Setia Perunding Sdn. Bhd.
Bachelor of Engineering (Civil & Construction)(Hons.), Class of 2019
Teck Ping graduated from Curtin Malaysia in 2019. He started his career as a design civil engineer with one of the largest multi-disciplinary engineering consultant firms in Malaysia and was fortunate to be part of mega projects such as the Electrified Double Track Project and MRT. He is actively involved in engineering societies and is a committee member of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia – Young Engineer Section (IEM-YES). As part of IEM-YES, he has attended international conferences and co-organised several events including a technical visit to Carlsberg Brewery Bhd. for its members. He likes to spend time exercising during weekends with family and friends and also loves to travel. His aim is to achieve a balanced work and leisure lifestyle.
Bryan Chin
Assistant Technical Manager, Lum Chang Building Contractor Pte. Ltd.
Bachelor of Engineering (Civil & Construction)(Hons.), Class of 2009
Bryan graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2009. Since then, he has been involved in civil and infrastructure works, particularly viaducts design and construction. He is now supervising a small team of design coordinators for the T315 project. Bryan is also a Built Environment Young Leader and a graduate of the first batch of the iBuildSG LEAD Horizon Programme. He has approximately 12 years of progressive experience in the engineering and construction fields. He also has experience in interpreting technical engineering specifics, and proactive and flexible approaches to supporting a wide array of engineering solutions from permanent design works to temporary design works.


Associate Professor Tang Fu Ee
Associate Professor of Civil & Construction Engineering Department and
Associate Dean of Learning & Teaching, Faculty of Engineering & Science
A/Prof. Tang grew up in Miri and studied civil engineering at the Victoria University of Manchester, graduating in 2000. He received a scholarship to do his PhD at the same university, and graduated in 2004. His PhD was focused on coastal hydrodynamics during which he carried out flow visualisation experiments. He joined Curtin Malaysia in 2005 as a lecturer in Civil and Construction Engineering. Through the years, he has held the positions of Coordinator and Head of the Engineering First Year programme, and Head of the Civil and Construction Engineering Department, and more recently, Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching for the Faculty of Engineering and Science. A/Prof. Tang enjoys teaching and working with young people. He teaches water-related subjects such as hydraulics, hydrology and environmental engineering. His current research areas include constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment and application of life-cycle assessment. In his spare time, A/Prof. Tang likes gardening and spending time with his family.

Julius Tan
Lead Analyst, Ebdesk Malaysia
Curtin Alumni, Bachelor of Arts (Mass Communication), Class of 2014
After graduating from Curtin Malaysia with a Bachelor of Arts (Mass Communication) in 2014, Julius started his career as a finance journalist, during which he won two awards for financial writing. He later ventured into the field of data analytics and is currently working as the lead analyst at Big Data consultation firm Ebdesk Malaysia, where he helps companies, as well as government agencies, uncover meaningful and actionable insights from data.
